Hundreds of Receipts from Great Depression Found in Wall of Downtown Cadillac Office

While renovating a new office in downtown Cadillac, a piece of history was found in one of the walls.

Generations Insurance and Financial Services have been renovating their new office for the last five months.

During construction, they found hundreds of receipts for surplus food given to residents struggling after the great depression in one of the false walls.

Owner Ryan Cicchelli says, it was a fascinating find, especially comparing the economy nearly 100 years ago to today.

“To me I think that’s pretty meaningful that this building has been around a long time. It’s a historic building and that it was used to help families during the depression that were having that impact from the economy and disaster,” says Cicchelli. “The fact that we work in investments and we help people to avoid disasters like that. It was just meant to be.”

Generations Insurance and Financial Services plan to frame the receipts and put them up around the office for the public to enjoy.
